The original home of the Potawatomi was with or near, the parent tribe in the great lake region of northern Michigan, on the western shores of Lake Huron. From here they were driven west by the powerful Iroquois.In the French and Indian War the Potawatomi, like most of the tribes of the Northwest, took the side of the French.
