Beskrivelse

The Treaty of Tordesillas of 1494 gave more advantages to the Portuguese than the Spanish side. After all, in 1493, despite the proposal of the Spaniards to draw a demarcation line in 100 leagues west of the Azeri Islands, at the insistence of the Portuguese, this line separating the spheres of influence between the two kingdoms was established in 370 leagues west of the Azeri Islands - 460 30/. This means that Brazil automatically falls under the authority of the Portuguese crown.Under the terms of the Treaty of Tordesillas, a bilateral Spanish-Portuguese commission had to clarify the location of the demarcation line by the end of 1495. But as a result of disagreements between Spanish and Portuguese cosmographers, this condition was not fulfilled (As expected, already in 1512, because of some territories in South America, a conflict between the two kingdoms flares up).
