Beskrivelse
Three centuries of excavation at Pompeii have uncovered over 11,000 pieces of writing, including graffiti, labels, stone inscriptions, campaign posters and business tablets. The fact that many of these documents were found in situ, in houses or on walls, increases their significance manifold. This detailed study focuses on 210 documents, presented in Latin and in English translation, in order to trace the fluctuating fortunes and complex alliances of Pompeii's elite families.
