Politics and Poetics of Gender in the Early 20th Century

The aim of this book is to discuss the most important aspects of women's status at thebeginning of the twentieth century by drawing a parallel between Romanian and Britishfeminism.The novelty of this book resides in the fact that it discusses the ideas of genderand politics in the novels of some of the most important Romanian modernist writers.The documents (Romanian old journals, articles, diaries and declarations, modernistliterary texts from well-known Romanian authors such as Camil Petrescu, HortensiaPapadat-Bengescu, or Anton Holban) as well as the period of time analysed in this bookare highly relevant to the way Romanian feminism has evolved over the years.
