Picture Songs for beginning pianists - a description: In the Picture Songs music book the notes on the musical staff each have a picture within them. In each D note there appears a picture of a dog which lives between the two black keys on the piano keyboard. The group of three black keys on the piano forms grandma's house therefore, each G note in the music book has a picture of grandma in it. Grandma has an apple in her window, and each A note in the music book has an apple pictured in it. Grandma has a front door F and a back door B. Next to the dog house the cat C reaches into the dog house to tease the dog. Grandson Eddie E sits on the other side of the dog house and reaches into the dog house to pet the dog. Now we have pictures in the F, B, C and E notes. This makes it easy for piano students to remember where each note on the music is to be played on the keyboard. Favorites such as Yankee Doodle and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star are included in this music book. Many children as young as two or three are able to read this music while older students and adults use it to remember their notes. Wooden blocks with these pictures on them are available to place on the keyboard. Karol Ann Krakauer November 15
