Piano Pieces

Piano Pieces by Jens Morsing are five short free-form solos that can be performed coherently. The pieces are expressive, characterized by singing melodic lines, wide-ranging open chords, dense harmonies and polyrhythms. Visual music drawings by Elizabeth Mikellides are based on the musical notation of Piano Piece I. Elizabeth Mikellides: ‘Drawing Music’ is what best describes my practice. I seek to explore the correlation between drawing and musical notation thus producing visual work informed by the construction of the music. However, I also make work that is at the same time visual and sound orientated. In the latter case, the drawing becomes the sound and the sound becomes the drawing.
