The little letters are excited to take a field trip to the zoo! When Y's cousin, "Sometimes Y," arrives in class with a chameleon attached to her, Miss Jill proposes an adventure to learn how the letter Y, like chameleons, can adapt and change its sound to match other vowels, E and I. The letters explore different animal exhibits, discovering the many sounds of their versatile friend.

Phonics Rule: Vowel Y
In "Sometimes y," you'll find a twist, A letter full of phonics bliss.
Versatile as can be, Y can sound like i or e.
In a one-syllable word, you'll spy, Y will make the sound "long i."
But in words with two syllables, you see, Y will then sound like "long e."
When y's the only vowel around, It'll take on i's short sound.
