Phoebe's Ghost

A shocking change had come over Carol since her widowed father unknowingly married a cruel and money-grubbing woman. Carol had become exceedingly sad, quiet, and withdrawn. When, at last, she believed that all was lost, her beloved and very dead grandmother reentered her life. However, death had not changed Grandmother Phoebe Wendell. Instead, her ghost appeared as she was in life-a chain-smoking, outrageously eccentric woman.

Together, Carol and Grandmother Phoebe battle the evil, lying, sneaky, and narcissistic stepmother as they plot to outwit and out-sneak her. They keep the wicked woman on edge with schemes that include starching her underwear, swiping her denture cream, and altering her gowns to fall apart.

Or, in Grandmother Phoebe's words, "Some people fight fire with fire. I fight fire with gasoline!"

Hopefully, Carol and her grandmother can keep their family alive and safe from the deceitful stepmother while Carol overcomes her submissiveness and learns to stand up for herself ... and Gram tries to give up smoking.
