Growing up in India, I remember admiring different heroes such as Bollywood Actors, Cricket Players, Political leaders, Muhammad Ali, He-Man and others. As I watched my heroes work in their areas of expertise/fields, I envisioned myself to be in their shoes one day with development on a daily basis. It was something about them that made me attracted towards them from such a young age. I did not realize what I wanted to become as the adolescent years turned into youth, and the days of college turned into job-started age. With time, I began to realize what my true passion was. It was not a title or particular direction that I was looking to achieve, but a feeling from within that was going to mark my journey and success. It was the feeling of more, the better and wiser that was being visioned; yet this feeling was not to compare myself to the others, but to my own self. When one finds something that they find immense pleasure in, they should continue to embark on that journey forward, and if the feeling associated with those things and activities intensifies, that means that you are heading in the right direction. The ability to understand what motivates us in life requires us to sometimes take a pause and evaluate the direction that the life is taking. Just like a dream vacation destination, the destination of life has to be clear enough before we start the journey, otherwise, we will end up somewhere which may not be the idealistic location that we are envisioning. In order to know that location or destination, the individual must be true to themselves, and take sometimes to find their true nature and lifes calling. If one continues to gravitate and spend more time on things that make them happy, and then they should increase the time that is spend on these activities or zones, and with passing of time, the results will begin to develop that are representative of desired destination or journey. We spend time in the following zones in life: Important, Un-Important, Urgent and Non-Urgent and. It is Important zone that is not urgent but actually the 20% of things and tasks that bring 80% of value in life. On the other hand, the urgent things include the day-to-day priorities of others, as well as our own, but they do not add up to much at the end of the week, day or month. One thing that we all have same amount of in life is time, no one has greater than 24 hours, therefore, care must be taken on how those 24 hours are spent, what state the individual is in on a daily basis, and where he/she is mentally residing will dictate the overall quality of life. To some extent, all of us want to be heroes in our lives, but we have to be the heroes of best representation of us in alignment with what we are made to be. It will be natural for others to follow us, once we are following our true calling in life, and developing in areas that make us feel valued and successful, most importantly from within. Any activity or set of activities that we would love to do if we were financially stable without the need for money will be what we would like to do for rest of our lives; this is referred to as the Important Zone. The things and tasks that are not Immediate and Urgent, but they are important to us and include areas such as: Health, Body, Intellect and Family. The sense of time disappears when we focus our attention of doing the things that make us happy. We should not be disappointed if we have not found our true calling yet; it is just a matter of time, and being open to ones-self that will cause the true findings to be revealed. It is important to have many life experiences in order to know what we would like to do in life. Once we find what we like to do, we should begin to develop all our areas of life surrounding this area and we will be happy.
