Beskrivelse
Since the early 1960s, Danish painter Per Kirkeby (born 1938) has been recognized globally as one of Scandinavia's most important contemporary artists. After a brief association with Fluxus, Kirkeby arrived in the late 1970s and early 1980s at the style for which he would become best known: a lush, gestural abstraction sensitively attuned to fluctuations in the natural world, informed by Nordic Romanticism and Kirkeby's early training as a geologist. Edited by Ane Hejlskov Larsen, Per Kirkeby: Catalogue Raisonn , Volume II chronicles the painter's breakthrough onto the international art scene in the period between 1978 and 1989. Featuring a complete catalog of Kirkeby's paintings, "overpaintings" and blackboard works from this critical decade in the artist's trajectory, this publication picks up where the first volume of the catalogue raisonn , focused on Kirkeby's early years, left off.
