Parvovirus B19 is a small, non-enveloped DNA virus that belongs to the Parvoviridae family. This virus is the causative agent of several clinical conditions, the most common of which is erythema infectiosum, also known as "slapped cheek disease" due to the characteristic facial rash it causes.
