Cairnville teams Jock up with Karen Miller. One of the new MI5 breed; she's professional, well-trained and extremely adept at surveillance techniques. Miller doesn't initially bond with the grizzled dinosaur but the fireworks really begin when the brash, super-confident Inspector Jamie Fraser from Special Branch enters the mix. Jock and the younger man embark on a long-term pissing contest which threatens to destabilise the investigation. As Jock's past returns to haunt him, and his life goes into meltdown, the terrorists and their horrifying objective are finally identified.
