In this riotous adventure, US Coast Guard Lt. Commander Richard Wilson jumps from a C-130, and paddles his lifeboat to a Peruvian fishing village. From there, he is spirited away to Argentina by his new sweetheart, Ingrid, where they set up a high-end flyfishing business in the Pampas. When a client, Buford Parker, offers him a million dollars to run trap lines in his free time the fun begins. Richard is on the lam for requisitioning the C-130 but his future looks rosy until a fishing client recognizes him from year-old newspaper photographs. However, the deal he makes with the questionably trustworthy Parker, who is Butch Cassidy's great-grandson, fogs Wilson's judgment, which already has shown indications of frailty. The FBI, the Coast Guard, and Buford Parker are all pursuing the engaging Wilson in an effort fraught with mistakes and miscalculations. Wilson finds allies in two women who he guides on one of his flyfishing ventures. Will he flee to Rio with Ingrid or will his greed impair their flight.
