A pagoda is a tiered tower with multiple eaves found mostly in China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and other parts of Asia. Most pagodas were built for religious reasons, most often Buddhist but sometimes Taoist. The pagoda evolved from the stupas of ancient India.
