Over "C" ing the Head was first published in 2017 as a section of chapter 3 in Prayer Power, the debut Victorious Praise book. Chapter 3 of Prayer Power is now available in separate books in the series "Three 'Letters' for Building the Body of Christ." The titles are as follows: (1) Fitting "P"ieces: Perfecting Servanthood for the Whole Body; (2) Over "C" ing the Head: Prayers of Support for Leadership; and (3)"S" Senses of the Body of Christ: Seeing, Sound, Smelling, Savoring, Suffering. The goal of the current volume is to encourage church congregations to pray for leadership. Of course we who are followers of Christ are to pray for humanity as a whole, as the apostle Paul exhorts in 1 Timothy 2:1. Paul in the next verse, however, specifically admonishes us to pray for "all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty." Prayers for secular leaders in positions of authority are imperative. Although church and state are separate in most modern Western societies (unlike the ancient Roman society in which Paul lived), government officials in the current era are charged with making laws and decisions that impact our day-to-day lives. Prayers for our nonsecular leaders are likewise in order. Our pastors in particular "watch for our] souls" (Hebrews 13:17). Just as our church leaders oversee members of the church, which is the body of Christ, we as believers should also Over "C" the head with prayers of support. This book details why it is important to Over "C" the head by praying for our leaders to be (1) Crowned with Wisdom; (2) Covered by the Blood of Jesus; (3); Controlled by Holy Spirit; (4); Clothed in the Whole Armor of God; and (5) Connected with the Body of Christ, the church family, as well as with the biological family. Members of every local congregation must faithfully stay on the wall. To Over "C" the head requires us to watch and pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). It is my prayer that everyone who reads this book will be strengthened with might by the Spirit in the inner man to pray and not faint, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.
