Set in New York in the late 1970s, Out to Where the Darkness Bleeds is the poetic autobiography of a drug addict known only as M*****. It is a tale of bullying, sexual abuse, murder, alcoholism, drug addiction, incarceration, and life on the streets in one of the city's bleakest and most self-destructive periods. It is, however, also a tale of courage, hope, love and redemption in their many forms.
