Since the age of ten, Allison Weston has lived under the sheltering arms of the nuns at St. Ives Institution. Sister Margaret, Allie's guardian, is concerned that Allie is hiding from the nightmares of a tragic childhood. So after Allie's college graduation, Margaret insists that Allie experience life outside the institution before taking her vows.
