This book will portray to the reader five different business situations faced by firms operating in different industries and by managers and employees at different levels. Managers will be confronted with business situations that will require making the right decision at the right time in the firms development stage and executing right. Most managers are partially good at most parts of the business management process but very few managers get everything right. Managerial foresight into understanding how the organization works and how its conflicting internal stakeholders may interpret and translate strategic or tactical execution will be necessary to optimize business performance. The manager must understand how much the firms human resources can deliver, build in key performance indicators, set milestones and make it difficult for human resources at different levels to pursue self serving activities that may result in agency cost and limit firm performance. All firms regardless of size, industry and location face similar challenges. The business solutions to the situations on hand and what will likely happen portray the limitations of manager performance given both manager and firm paradigms and the cost of political decisions. Organizations as a result destroy value and deviate from optimum performance and results. The reader will be challenged to analyze the business situation on hand, separate symptoms from root causes, formulate solutions using different business models and compare results with the suggested solutions and what most likely will happen in the Teaching Note. This book is suggested for more experienced and senior business leaders.
