English summary: Fridrik Thordason's book will give new insights not only into the grammar of Ossetic, but also into the history and the cultural anthropological background of the speakers of this language. Ossetic, a North-East Iranian language which can be traced back to the Scytho-Sarmatian dialects of antiquity, has been spoken on both sides of the Caucasus main range since many centuries, isolated from the rest of the Iranian world and under strong influence of the neighboring Caucasian and Turkic languages. The present studies can claim to be the first Ossetic grammar taking systematically into account the results of modern Indo-European and Caucasian research. Together with the results of extended field-research, undertaken over many years, this was the main basis of the author's innovative theses and explanations on the history and the dialectology of Ossetic and the areal linguistic role this language played in past and more recent periods. As a by-product, Fridrik Thordarson's unconventional view and reconsideration of the complex areal and historical-comparative linguistic material gives amazing new insights into the relative chronology and the main directions of migrations all over the inhabited area of the Northern Caucasus. German description: Fridrik Thordarsons Buch wird nicht nur neue Einsichten in die Grammatik des Ossetischen vermitteln, sondern auch dazu beitragen, den historischen und kulturell-anthopologischen Hintergrund der Sprecher dieser Sprache zu erhellen. Ossetisch, eine nordost-iranische Sprache, wird seit vielen Jahrhunderten zu beiden Seiten des zentralen Kaukasus-Hauptkamms gesprochen, isoliert vom Rest der iranischen Welt, jedoch unter starkem Einfluss der benachbarten Kaukasus- und Turksprachen. Man kann mit Fug und Recht behaupten, dass die vorliegenden Studien die erste ossetische Grammatik reprasentieren, die systematisch die Resultate der modernen Indogermanistik und Kaukasistik berucksichtigt. Zusammen mit jahrelanger intensiver Feldforschung vor Ort bildeten diese Neuerkenntnisse die Basis fur viele innovative Thesen und Erklarungen zur Geschichte und Dialektologie des Ossetischen sowie dessen areallinguistischer Rolle in rezenteren und weiter zuruckliegenden Perioden. Ein Nebenprodukt von Fridrik Thordarson's fundiertem, aber unkonventionellen Umgang mit dem komplexen arealen und historisch-vergleichenden linguistischen Material sind faszinierende neue Einsichten in die relative Chronologie und die Hauptrichtungen von Migrationen, die das gesamte nordliche Kaukasusgebiet betreffen.
