The presentations held at the Peace Talks of 2007 in Osnabruck, Germany, concentrated on areas of politics in which there is a continual striving for solutions to conflicts: Despite many attempts at educating the populace, right-wing radicalism remains an enduring problem. The call for tolerance is one thing; but efforts to inform and to bring the problem to the fore in the media must be intensified and exhaust all judicial and constitutional means. Today it is trivial to recall that persons living in Germany of non-German heritage are of existential importance to both the German state and German society. Nevertheless, integration has yet to become the norm. The unification of Europe is clearly already a success, but that unification will remain a difficult, long-term process replete with potential conflicts. The Near East is still unfortunately a long way from experiencing a mutual understanding of the conflicting parties. There still smolders a long-term conflict that can escalate at any time.
