Open Portfolio Project: Research Brief Series Maker Ed is delighted to share a comprehensive series of research briefs under one cover. The briefs arose from the first phase of Maker Ed's Open Portfolio Project from 2013 and 2014. Maker Ed's Open Portfolio Project aims to develop a common set of practices for portfolio creation, reflection, sharing, assessment, and technology solutions to create an open, decentralized, and distributed lifetime portfolio system for makers. The initial phase of this project, which took place from October 2013 to March 2015, resulted in a comprehensive set of findings compiled as our Open Portfolio Project: Research Brief Series. The research briefs include an investigation of the research literature on traditional and e-portfolio systems that situate our current work; an exploration and overview of existing tools and design features that best promote learner documentation, reflection, and curation; snapshots of the field sites, their commonalities, and their unique qualities and needs; and a review of the emerging themes, tensions, and questions from both the field and our National Working Group members. The briefs reflect on the collected data as well as emerging themes in the field. For more information, visit http: //makered.org/opp/
