In the beginning, the author wrote ONLY ONE SUMMER as an inheritance gift for her 'unsaved' friends and loved ones, those who were not Christians. If she died before they were converted, she planned to speak to them from beyond the grave, through the book.The writer shared various childhood memories mingled with 25 Biblical Truths in an attempt to lead those special people to Jesus. In time, friends read her story and the consensus was that she should make it available to a wider audience. Desiring to convey the messages both pleasingly and beneficially, Faye gave the matter serious consideration. She decided to portray herself as the two main characters in the story, simultaneously, using an element of fiction in order to achieve her goal. She expressed her childhood memories through the student, Rose, and her adult life lessons through the teacher, Abigail Worthington, and the book came to fruition. In the end, it was plain to see the book was not like literary works by Hemingway, London or Twain. It turned out to be just a simple little book - but remember, God uses the simple things in this world to confound the wise...
