Online Discovery Sound

The ScienceWiz(R) Online Discovery Sound flip book (48 pages) and kit begins by exploring sound vibrations and culminates in the building of a working Edison phonograph. That phonograph lets you not only capture sound vibrations but it also lets you play those vibrations back. We have only been able to do the latter for the last 150 years. There is still a rumor that Abraham Lincoln's voice may have been captured on a carbon print. That voice print has not been found -- yet. The online flip book (48 pages) blends highly visual instructions for hand-on projects, videos, digital apps, animations, simulations and games. This integrated approach gives your child guided access to a decibel meter, an audiometer, a frequency generator (for visualizing pitch and frequency) and creating sound patterns in sand and an interactive model of the human ear.
