Beskrivelse

Reliving the memories of a blissful childhood in East Africa when one is too young to miss electricity and means of communication so taken for granted in the States, the journey meanders down sunny, dirt lanes shaded by jacaranda in full bloom, palm trees, and eucalyptus. Interrupted by WWII bringing more privation and difficulty traveling, the family endured and learned to make do with what they had at hand.

Finally able to leave for the States in late 1946, their two years on furlough saw them move five times to interesting venues in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

In 1949 the family returned to Africa, this time to a new location in Tanganyika. The trek continued for Joyce and her sister Alice to boarding school with its ups and downs but always filled with adventures such as climbing volcanoes, watching wildlife, learning to trust God. As her father said, Life is full of many adventures to come."
