In 2020, Raven vowed to excavate her poems from reams of shoeboxes imprisoned in dark closets and release them into the light in service to the world. The poems you hold in your hand are offerings of the heart transcribed in times of both unrelenting sorrow and elusive joy. Each poem is a linguistic portrait of a life lived in chapters of trees, abiding in the comfort of dogs and trees, and informed by the spirit of the land and water which has no need for words.
Perhaps, now more than ever, we need this collection of poems that pays tribute to the still, small voice crying out to be heard and heeded. May Raven's poems inspire us to stop and listen.
