"To fall in love is the great curse. To fall is to die. Nothing shall fall from the sky ever again. Not even a single drop of rain will fall to the earth."
This is what Aristos, a winged boy, learned from a young age. He also learned about the tragic fate of Icarus, who fell from the sky as a result of flying too close to the sun. The winged men feared that falling in love was no different than falling from the sky. He had once dared to fly to the world below the skies and meet a young mermaid. All the winged men had gathered storm clouds to prevent rain from falling to the earth. The mermaid, Faye, felt that sea water was nothing without sky water. Rain could destroy, but it also gave life. The reign of the winged men meant that the balance between sea and sky was broken. Aristos knew he could never fall in love. But one day he did. And then rain fell. Aristos and Faye had to restore the balance of sky and sea.
