Nzingha of Angola

Many brave women have risen in Africa for various causes.



In this story we meet a young woman who stood up against slavery of her people and fought tooth and nail against the Portuguese to stop them from capturing her people and taking them to South America as slaves.



What is slavery? It is the practice of forcibly making a person do a difficult and dangerous work without any pay; e.g. working on sugar or cotton plantains. It might interest you to know that a great number of African slaves shipped to Brazil came from Angola.
