If a few of those moments in the past had been different, what would the future look like? A few, seemingly inconsequential choices made by a handful of people have created an alternate history of an all-Confederate Earth.With no place left on Earth to hide from the Confederacy, it was inevitable that African slaves would eventually look to the stars to escape. In the year 2165, under the cover of a global slave rebellion, one and a half million slaves did precisely that. Using the insurrection to hide both their escape and their path, they set up their own society far, far away.Roscoe Brown and Willa Chappell are born some 400 years after the settlement of the Nubian Star Nation, on a planet named the Liberated States of America. Their society is a utopia, but will it survive? One thing is certain.
