Notwendiges Umdenken

In the tension between secularization and sacralization a return of religion becomes visible, in which the established churches hardly participate. The institutionalized form of Christianity is in a continous process of loss of relevance. The reasons for this are highly complex and multi-layered. The contributors to the Festschrift in honor of Werner Zager try to refer to his academic work and to respond to the central challenges of contemporary Christianity. The contributors and the honored share the belief that, if the church does not want to be further marginalised in the globalized, multi-religious high-tech world, it is necessary to contradict the sacrificium intellectus and instead strive toward a rational faith.
