Nothing but Sand a collection of poetry and short stories from the mind of Steve Cain. It is his eighth book and seventh book of poetry and short stories. The prologue and epilogue continue the story of the madman and the writer, each vying for control. Stories in this collection include "15 Seconds," about a microwave that doesn't know what to do when time is left on its display, "Hi, Daddy," about a man who has to deal with the death of his child, and "'Til the Well Runs Dry," about the interaction between an elderly African-American man and a guitar player on the banks of the Ohio River. Poetry and songs include "The Kite," "The God Machine," "If You Only Knew," "Loose Wire Whirr," "Not of This World," "Pretties for My Pretty," the title poem, and many others.
