Notas de la Habana

In July, 2017, contemporary Beat writer PW Covington traveled to Havana, Cuba as a member of a delegation of creative writers representing the USA. These poems and photographs document his experiences and impressions. Told in mostly stream-of-consciousness free verse, Covington's attention to detail and personal connections form the foundation of this poetic travelogue, and his vivid, full color, photographs bring the island's capital and the people that live there, into focus for all. Translations of the poems Covington presented at the festival are provided by Laura Pena, a 2018 featured poet at the Rio Grande Valley International Poetry Festival (Texas).
