Beskrivelse
An overweight, hopeless romantic, Rex Kramer works for RC Production booking events and handling clients like no other can. In his free time, he loves to belly up to the bar at a local club, drink coffee and listen to the entertainment, well, actually, to one entertainer, in particular, Veatriz Corona, a hot blooded Latina songstress who drives him wild. Unfortunately, she goes for every other guy but Rex. Bob Pierce, one half of twins, works with his brother managing a number of businesses, but Bob has a side business of his own. As the money from this illegal and immoral venture keeps flowing in, the danger from his powerful and threatening partners builds almost to the boiling point. Bob is grateful that he has any number of women he can turn to for solace. Currently, Veatriz is his woman of the week. While on break from performing, Veatriz overhears Bob on the phone talking about a killing. The next day, she learns about a woman found dead, the circumstances similar to what she overheard. Could it just be coincidence? Or was there something to it? She decides there was no way and puts it out of her mind...for the moment. After another incident, a worse incident, the relationship between Bob and Veatriz ends and a new one begins...with Rex. Though it wasn't the kind of relationship Rex wanted with Veatriz, he was happy with whatever he could get. After she told him what she overheard, they found themselves investigating Bob Pierce...together. As their investigation ensues and they begin peeling the onion away to expose the layers underneath, the smell gets worse and worse and the peril grows and grows. Bob associates with truly evil people and now these people are onto Veatriz and Rex, who are blindly unaware until it's too late. If they survive what is to come, it will be a miracle. Rex and Veatriz disappear and where they are, they will, most likely, never be found. Scattered within the prose is another story; a story of love and passion and separation and heartache. In the past, Rex had engaged in a short but intense relationship with, arguably, the greatest entertainer of the time and, unarguably, the most beautiful woman ever, but it wasn't meant to be. Apples and oranges shouldn't mix. Apples with apples and oranges with oranges was how it was supposed to be. As Rex had been told, she was not for someone like you. Maybe that was why he and Veatriz weren't connecting. He already had his love, a true love, and he blew it. Did he deserve another chance with Veatriz? Only time would tell. First, they had to survive to find out.
