More than a story of two brothers, Anund and Sveinung Fetvedt, "Norwegians Abroad" is the search for a new life and the hardships and joys that came with homesteading the American prairie.

The brothers saw history being made from the the election of Ulysses S. Grant, the building of the transcontinental railway, the beginning of Fergus Falls, Minnesota to the benefits and issues with the homestead law, schools for the children and the trials of building a church in their community.
