Beskrivelse
The small Michigan town of Brewster seems quiet in comparison to New York City, but Hannah Lowenstein likes it. She's moved there to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She's about to discover the town's peaceful veneer is deceiving.
A feisty Jewish mother and widow, Hannah is as opinionated as she is caring. She can't stand to remain silent in the face of injustice, so when she learns of a homeless child's plight, Hannah knows she has to do something. She starts advocating for a homeless shelter in Brewster. As Hannah digs deeper into Brewster's social issues, she uncovers another injustice. A prominent member of the community is using the threat of homelessness to molest a young woman in his employ. Hannah knows she has to do something, although her acerbic wit and willingness to poke her nose into the affairs of the town's high society aren't going to make her many friends. And she's going to have to do all this while cooking for her family and dealing with their many problems. It's going to be tough, but Hannah's never been one to shy away from trouble.
