Beskrivelse

Robert Elliott was born and raised in Glasgow's Southside. He was acutely aware of the presence of violence and the darkness of the city's social climate from a very young age; he was also aware of a power greater than himself and a sense of its providence and care over his life. What he did not know and could never have foreseen, however, was his own immersion in the shadowy valley of the city. Neither could he have predicted the extent to which violence, crime and the drugs underworld would entangle his life and those around him. This is a story of how the seeds of fear and childlike faith are planted side by side, and also of how these seeds take root and grow into both death and life. Robert describes violence and crime, not with excuse or justification, but simply as the reality into which many young people in Glasgow find themselves a part. There is neither dilution, nor sensationalism of this world, but a first hand insight and honesty about the tragedy and terror which the underworld entails...regardless of its lure and promises of wealth, prestige and power.
