Beskrivelse

The objective of this book is for Africans and Nigerians included to start a discussion on the need to look at our nations as one entity instead of enclaves, looking inwards for avenues to develop that entity with a different paradigm of collective welfare rooted in egalitarian principles based in market capitalism open to all and not just a selected few. It entails the fundamentals of governance and the socio-economic-political development issues such as economic growth for upwards mobility, security of life and property, and the welfare of the citizenry and how those with fiduciary sacred trust should avoid circumventing the system and stop stealing the resources meant for sustainable development. This book is thought-provoking, it encourages the young and old, students, researchers, academicians, political office holders and aspirants to start to deliberate on the recommendations therein. The book also highlights Africa and Nigeria's problems and what the Nigerian ruling class must do to reawaken the nation in order to reclaim its rightful place as a continental power. The ruling class must recognize that the route to development is by holistic approach to restructuring and the abhorrence of stealing public resources in order to build mansions, invest and stash cash in numbered accounts in foreign countries or to marry as many wives as possible or to keep several concubines, acquire private jets and fleets of all manner of vintage cars. They must avoid the cabal control that stifles our compatriot's aspirations to legitimately make a decent living to provide for one's family and banish tribalism, mediocrity, corruption and maladministration that results in underdevelopment, hunger, marginalization and needless conflicts. The book advocates structuring the nations' geopolitical zones into regions and devolution of powers to those regions. Regionalism brought out the preeminent ingenuity of Nigerian people in 1960s and if not for the coup of 1966 coupled with the advent of crude oil, Nigeria would have advanced further than South Korea, Brazil and Malaysia in her developments goals. The other reason is that our current brand of democracy is very expensive and wasteful . The call for restructuring goes beyond the advantages accruing to some in this our skewed federal structure.
