In Nia's Magical Halloween Night, Nia, a beautiful little Black girl, decides to make Halloween a night filled with love and kindness instead of fear and fright. After noticing how scared other kids are during Halloween, she tells her mother she wants to be a friendly witch who spreads love, even though her older sister laughs at the idea. Nia dreams of a world where candy-filled streets, fruit-bearing trees, and chocolate clouds make everyone happy.
One night, Nia hears crying from her closet. When she opens it, she meets a ghost her age, invisible to others but seen by Nia. The ghost confides in Nia, explaining how she doesn't want to scare people like her family does. Instead, she wants to bring happiness. The two bond over their shared feelings, and Nia comes up with a plan to turn Halloween into a night of joy.
Together, they create "treat baskets" filled with handwritten notes of kindness, wrapped candies, and small surprises. They decorate the neighborhood with friendly, glowing jack-o'-lanterns, making everything look warm and welcoming. On Halloween night, as they hand out treats and spread love, the neighborhood is transformed. Laughter replaces screams, and even Nia's skeptical older sister joins in the fun. The atmosphere becomes one of happiness, proving that Halloween can be magical, not just spooky.
