Beskrivelse
This book takes a look at some early Newport history, from when it was predominantly an agrarian society, to before the railroad came to town in 1871/1872. It collects in one place in-formation that is scattered among many resources. We began this project by asking the questions: Who were the people that settled Newport? What was their history and where did they come from? Where and how did they live? We looked for the tangible remains of these early settlers, such as their dwelling houses, the roads they used, and the bridges they built, and made them the focal point of this history.
