English description: This reading book contains an anthology of Modern Irish prose texts in the original and in German translation. The texts cover the areas of folklore, biography and literary text (short story) and deals with the lives of Irish speakers on the west coast of Ireland in the first half of the 20th century. They provide a direct insight into a lost world that nevertheless plays an important role in present-day Irish identity. The texts are in the original and in German translation and are accompanied by a complete Irish-German glossary with page and line references. German description: Das vorliegende Lesebuch, das an das Lehrbuch "Slainte " von A. Ambros und T. Illes anschliesst, enthalt eine kleine Auswahl irischsprachiger Prosatexte aus den Bereichen Folklore, Biographie und Kunstprosa (Kurzgeschichten), die vom Leben der irischsprachigen Bevolkerung der Westkuste Irlands in der ersten Halfte des 20. Jahrhunderts berichten. Sie gewahren einen direkten Einblick in eine vergangene Welt, die dennoch eine wichtige Rolle im heutigen irischen Selbstverstandnis spielt. Die Texte liegen im Original und in deutscher Ubersetzung vor und werden durch ein vollstandiges irisch-deutsches Glossar erschlossen.
