Nellie, the General's Hen is a wonderful true story of a chicken given amnesty by a famed general. Seen through the eyes of Nellie, the author takes you on a journey when America's mettle was being tested and teetered on the brink of division. Though Nellie cannot understand the 'upright walkers' she is however able to talk to the horses and other animals.
