This book is about how the Chinese Exclusion Act was used as a catalyst to build off of for the immigration laws that were enacted during the late 19th and early 20th century. It shows how immigration laws were very harsh during the Gilded Age and how immigrants like the Chinese and many others had to try and live through that.
