Set in the current period, The Mystery of Thorne Cavern leads us into a story of human greed and the consequences of the pursuit of this greed. While the adventurous type, Slade isn't deterred from being called a hero of sorts with his stumbling adventures and his seemingly ignorant realization of the actual truths. The end game is far larger than Slade or his cohorts signed up for and seems to make the pursuits of money seem trivial.
