My Name Isn't Rufus

This book is based on the reflections of 16-year old Michael, whose father calls him "Rufus." Michael does desperate things to get his father's attention, but his father has issues of his own and never seems to have quality time to spend with his son. It is not Michael's choice to live in a female environment with a stepmother and two sisters. In search of a father figure, he is drawn to older, more savvy boys who confuse him about himself and his sexuality. He tells his story with guts and no holds barred, revealing dishonest acts and sexual encounters. At sixteen, he knows himself better than most adults. This book is a crossover from Young/Adult to Adult readership. The young adult and adult will gain insight about each other that can save years of anguish.
