What does my morning routine have to do with my recovery?My Morning Practice supports my alcohol recovery emotionally, physically, and spiritually.I'm not a morning person. I'm a night owl. I do most of my best drinking alone at night. This is what I used to tell myself before I started my morning routine.After I was arrested for DUI, I woke up. I woke up to what I was prepared to do in order to improve my life.How do you start your day? If you are like most people, as soon as the alarm goes off (and you press snooze for the third time ) you are behind. Then it is responding to your boss, catching up on the news, and checking up on social media. And you haven't even gotten out the front door.Instead of starting your day with social media, what if you started your day with silence? Instead of catching up with what's going on in the White House, you got caught up with what's going on in your house? Instead of reading your boss' emails, you read something uplifting and inspirational?My Morning Practice shares how I was able to put down the bottle so I could start making an impact in the lives of the people I love. It may sound counterintuitive or even selfish. Focusing on self development is the best way to be able to help the people you love.But it didn't work until I did the work. And things wouldn't change until I changed. My morning practice guarantees me the time every morning to focus on the actions that will make the biggest difference in my life.And it all starts with my morning routine. I love my morning practice.
