This novel is a collection of memoirs and letters from several French Foreign Legionnaires.

I also included a post-World War II story of my father, Francesco M., through my eyes. I am his younger son.

Of the many young people that enlist in the French Foreign Legion, we will never find out how they ended up there and why they enlisted. We can only speculate, but the real reason they joined the Foreign Legion will always remain their secret and a mystery.

I am confident that Francesco and the other legionnaire's stories are not unique. However, I am sure it was a taught decision to make.

I admire them for their strong courage and strength in making that decision that changed their lives.

All of them are hero!
