When the policeman tries to free Tom Gruber's kidnapped son, Paul, he gets shot. Paul is very sad that his father is dead and wishes nothing more than for him to be back with him. In response, Tom returns as a ghost to spend 7 last days on Earth with his son before they must bid each other farewell forever. But then fate takes a dramatic turn.
