Anna Burdish is an undergraduate full of hopes and visions. Her view of life is shaped by the grandeur of Yeats' poetry and the romance of Irish history.
However, it isn't long before Anna's high hopes are dashed; her romantic longings are thwarted by her middle-aged, alcoholic Professor and she is disillusioned with her studies.
