Already involved in a love triangle and endangered by a warning from the secret police,Katherine Angelis, young pianist and daughter of Czech exiles, is rescued by both a Partyofficial and a sudden ground swell of protest and shares in the euphoria of the VelvetRevolution. But in the spring of 1990, blossoming freedoms alternate with hefty priceincreases and new corruption, and Katherine accompanies her friends through the breakdownof family solidarity and personal and professional crises.
