Perturbed by the unrolling acrimonious events in many countries under the misuse of religion, race, ethnicity and politics, Omar Sillah (PhD) was motivated to search for peaceful solutions to help prevent occurrences in diverse, pluralistic countries. Sillah believes that one's belief, sense of belonging and culture play major roles in one's life and are foundational for co-existence. He calls for multi-faith, cultural and political dialogue to reach mutual understanding, respect, and tolerance for one another. Despite differences in faith and culture, he believes that peace and unity can prevail among diverse people of any country. He spotlights his native country, The Gambia as an example. It is in this light that he embarked on the journey of writing this book: 'Multi-Faith and Multi-Cultural Co-Existence - The Gambia under the Spotlight'. Sillah presents political, religious and cultural pluralism in perspectives that can help to maintain and foster coexistence in a pluralistic nation. He covers diverse religious perspectives to address numerous social, political and religious issues. The thread that stitches this book together is Sillah's commitment and insistence that tolerance, liberty, justice, and diplomacy are fundamental for peace and stability for any pluralistic nation like The Gambia. This book is recommended for diverse people sharing a single public space.
