Beskrivelse
Sepsis is the life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. Without prompt treatment, it can lead to tissue damage, organ failure and even death. It can present from different points of origin, the most frequent being abdominal, pulmonary, or renal, and will depend on different etiologies such as bacteria, fungi and viruses for its severity. It is important that in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) the severity is determined in a timely manner to initiate appropriate management. The ICU is a high demand service, so a simple, easily accessible and reliable scale is sought to evaluate the prognosis of the patient with abdominal sepsis, so a scale with better reliability will be sought to establish the severity and prognosis of the patient.
